Teaching

David Ramos is a saxophone and clarinet doubler and former band director based in Miami, FL. He maintains a private studio of saxophone and clarinet students, partners with local music businesses to offer teaching services, and clinics with local middle and high schools in South Florida.

Services

Private Lessons

David Ramos offers in-person and online saxophone and clarinet lessons for students of all ages and playing levels. Using a combination of Rubank methods, instrument specific etude books (Ferling, Rose, etc.), and age appropriate level literature, David focuses on developing the fundamentals of quality sound production, while helping students unlock their musical potential along the way.

 

Students will develop an individualized practice regimen meant to strengthen specific areas of performance such as:

  • Tone production & embouchure

  • Range

  • Scales

  • Articulation

  • Dynamics

  • Sight reading

  • Extended techniques

Clinics

David Ramos has served as a clinic for various middle and high school band programs in the South Florida area, offering his expertise in the areas of saxophone and marching band performance and Music Performance Assessment (MPA) preparation.

Audition Preparation

David Ramos has successfully auditioned for All-State ensembles (FMEA All-State Symphonic Band, 2016), music festivals (Tanglewood Institute, 2016), and university music programs (UM Frost School of Music, 2023-2025; FSU College of Music, 2016-2020). He offers a systematic approach for any student preparing for an upcoming audition, whether for All-State, performance competitions, or university acceptance.

Substitute Teaching

Since 2020, David Ramos has offered his services as a substitute teacher for various band programs in Miami-Dade and Broward County, assisting band directors with their middle and high school concert and jazz bands.
